On October 18, 2023, at the initiative of the Institut Jean Monnet and the EU Representation in Washington, a commemorative plaque was placed on the house where Jean Monnet lived with his family during the Second World War. His efforts to mobilize American industry for the war, at Churchill’s request, made Roosevelt’s Victory Program possible. The great economist John Maynard Keynes said of Jean Monnet’s action in Washington during the war that it probably shortened it by a year. <\/p>\n\n
