A look back at the third Hackathon for Europe

The third edition of the Hackathon for Europe. 80 students from HETIC and the German school Macromedia worked together to design the digital version of the previous edition’s winning project, Article 11.

Based on the observation that younger generations – in particular Gen Z – find it difficult to feel listened to and represented by politicians, Article 11 offers a solution based on a real-time polling system. Thanks to a voting feature, the application enables users to give their opinion on the political decisions to be taken in response to current events. Politicians have access to poll results, giving them a tool to take better account of young people’s opinions on a day-to-day basis.

The collaboration proved fruitful, and one team stood out for developing an application that was both effective and attractive, enabling users to understand current issues and the stakes involved in current decisions, and to vote in a simple, intuitive way.

Many thanks to the winning team for their involvement, and to our partners:

  • HETIC

  • Representation of the European Commission in France
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
