Jean Monnet is the most common name given to lycées in France. 23 establishments bear his name and 20,000 young people study at a Lycee Jean Monnet, often in bac pro streams.
On May 23, 2024, the Institut Jean Monnet launched its Lycées Jean Monnet network at the Maison Jean Monnet. Launched with three “pilot” establishments in the Pyrenees, Champagne and Île de France, the network is intended to include all lycées bearing the Jean Monnet name. Together, the pilot schools and the IJM have already developed tools for talking to young people about Europe: a mobile exhibition, a film, a collection of quotations, learning games, etc., which will be shared with everyone. In a second phase, the Institut Jean Monnet would like to “twin” the Jean Monnet network with EU schools named after other founding fathers. In any case, the Réseau des Lycées Jean Monnet is off to a good start, and the twenty young participants are enthusiastic.
On Thursday May 23, 2024, they gathered at the Maison Jean Monnet, where students from the Lycée Jean Monnet de La Queue themselves welcomed and guided their fellow students, teachers and school heads, as well as local personalities. The following day, the students paid tribute to Jean Monnet at the Pantheon, where they laid a wreath.
The network has been launched, and the “pilot” Lycées intend to contribute to its development.
