Philippe de Villiers does it again!

/

As he did in his book published in 2019, a few months before the European elections, Philippe de Villiers has once again decided to attack Jean Monnet on CNews and Europe 1 to discredit the European Union on the eve of the elections.

There’s no need to list the historical errors, approximations and unfounded slanders that de Villiers spins out throughout this distressing interview, whose opening line, “Europe was born in a glass of cognac”, would be laughable were it not for the aim of damaging the European project.

In this Tribune du Monde dated March 28, 2019, 70 historians and renowned personalities describe the remarks made by Philippe de Villiers at the time, and repeated yesterday on CNews and Europe 1, as “a web of pretence typical of conspiracy theories”.

A useful read for those who question the validity of the words of the multi-recidivist Vendéen, or are simply interested in historical falsification for political ends.

Thank you to the historians and academics who signed the 2019 Tribune:
