Jean Monnet and Europe’s Role in Global Governance: A Discussion with Young Delegates

On March 13, 2026, Jean-Marc Lieberherr, founding president of the Jean Monnet Institute, participated in the Model United Nations organized by the Franco-German High School in Buc and Notre-Dame du Grandchamp. He spoke with 120 young participants about Europe’s role in the global governance of the future.

This meeting provided an opportunity to reiterate that the European Union, despite its imperfections, remains the most successful example of multilateral governance. Like any peaceful revolution, its development requires time and perseverance.

In the face of the temptation to resort to force and domination to resolve conflicts, Jean-Marc Lieberherr’s message was clear: we must continue to build Europe and demonstrate, through our successes, the power of collective action.
